Gewurztraminer 2016 - Limited Edition Library Wine

This wine is sold at our Lake George & Bolton Landing Tasting Rooms, the Queensbury Winery Headquarters, AND is available for Shipping or Pickup.

What is a Library Wine?

In 2014, we began setting aside four cases of our best dry varietal wines, each of that particular vintage year. Stored in the proper conditions  (in a cool, dark place, arranged on their side), just for you, we have been saving four cases of each ever since!

How did we decide which wines to put in the Library?
There's a different and special reason for choosing a library wine – whether we had only created a limited supply or the wine sold out too quickly, it was immensely popular or it won a particularly notable award in its vintage year. Each wine is chosen for a unique reason.

Tasting Notes
Our Gewurztraminer is pleasantly aromatic, bringing forth sweet rose and lychee fruit on the nose, followed by notes of ginger and tart apricot flavors that are nicely balanced with a light sweetness.
85 pts: Wine Enthusiast Magazine; 90 pts: Catherine Fallis, Master Sommelier - Planet Grape Wine Review: "Flavorful, mellow and lightly sweet with notes of ripe peach and pineapple, lily, lilac, coconut snowball, cotton candy and a refreshing pink lemonade tartness for balance."
"SILVER: 2018 Sommelier Challenge Int'l (2016 vintage); SILVER: 2015 World Wine Championships (2014 vintage); BRONZE: 2017 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition; BRONZE: 2016 NY International Wine Competition (2015 vintage); BRONZE: 2015 New York State Fair (2014 vintage)"
Winemaker Notes
“Moderate temperatures throughout the grape growing season played right into the hands of our beloved Gewurztraminer come harvest time in 2019 with nice acidity and brix measurements. One of the more fun grapes to process during harvest season due to its pink skins, this harvest might just be our best yet for this cool-climate grape as the aromatic qualities really shine. A nice balance between the wine’s typical spicy notes and a touch of sweetness.”
Food Pairing Notes
Try pairing this wine with spicy cuisine and curries, gamey meats, sushi, roasted vegetables and mild cheeses.
