GOLD: 2018 Sommelier Challenge Int'l (2016 vintage)
The 2020 vintage of Merlot presents itself with strong aromas of blackberry coupled with subtle notes of cocoa and tobacco. Slightly on the heavier side in body and tannin, this years Merlot has a nice balance of American and French Oak that gives off a pleasant warming sensation. A warm and dry summer, accompanied by generous punch downs of the fruit during harvest provide a rich and dark red hue. The climate in which these grapes are grown provides sweet fruit flavors but with elevated acidity, creating a very drinkable Merlot for any season. At first sip, various berry flavors explode on the pallete with some nice notes of leather and clay soil.
Food Pairing Notes
We suggest enjoying this Merlot with some nice and rich parmesan cheese followed by a beautiful cut of filet mignon.
